Los Angeles, California, USA

Connolly Creations was an established specialised consultancy service based in Los Angeles, USA, which provided business development, operations management and strategic planning assistance to small and medium sized businesses.

FruitMachine was a start-up business concept to deliver smoothies and fruit juices through vending machines placed in gyms and sports centres in the east of Ireland.

The initial brief to Zetagram* by the client was to create a brand design for the business using the previous name choice. After consultation with the client the name FruitMachine was suggested by Zetagram to open up more markets and make the brand more flexible.

After research and analysis it was determined that rather than just concentrating on the fitness drinks market, it would be wise to also aim at a younger soft-drink market, to provide an alternative to heavily processed and carbonated drinks.

With the focus of the business being the vending system and the adopted name FruitMachine, Zetagram developed a concept around the mechanical aspect of blending the fruit into a drink. A theme of 'We Love Fruit' (influenced by Innocent's smoothie campaigns) also tied into the main concept.

The symbol motif represents a mechanical process dispensing a drink into a cup, enclosed in a heart shape. The logotype itself was designed with a carefully selected font and the colour scheme pallete was developed along the lines of fruit sweets & confectionery.

To support and extend the brand, custom fruit icons were also drawn in the same style as the main logo brand, to decorate and enhance future marketing material.

A concept design drawing was created for the vending machine in product development, to make the most out of the thre stage process it took to prepare the drink. The design highlighted viewing windows in the side of the machine to reveal the process.
